Meet our newest crew member and Denver area Rep, Melissa Withem. Her first time skiing was at the age of 4. She grew up in Tahoe and Reno, and her home mountain was Squaw Valley, with her first time snowboarding, in 1994.

Her current stomping grounds include Keystone, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain.

Melissa has a degree in the Fine Arts and her specialty is painting, with a secondary specialty in sculpture. She taught at the Austin Museum of Art for a short time, and then moved to Colorado to be able to snowboard almost year round. She started skating roller derby as a founding league member in 2005 for the Mississippi Rollergirls, an all girl roller derby league and now skates as a Militia Vandal for the Denver Roller Dolls, where she is on the home team, The Shotgun Betties (oddly enough), ha!  Melissa also played golf in college and still does to this day.

Other hobbies include but are not limited too: Building classic cars,
(currently owns a 70 Chevelle SS with a 454, and a 69 Firebird with a 468, and also has a custom built motorcycle powered by a Sportster motor in a Flyrite frame “and not one thing on it stock or predictable.” She also drag races at Bandamere, plays stand up bass, and rides her road or mountain bike for fun.

“I ride goofy 148, and I can ride all mountain, but like to ride park unless of course, its a pow day.”

The Battle for Burlington is a grassroots event series created by two riders who recognized that no events existed which catered to the heavily involved youth and collegiate snow sports culture. The events are developed in partnership with sponsors and local Ski & Ride clubs. The Battle for Burlington produces events that gives talented riders a fun, safe, and energetic venue in which to showcase their talents in front of family, friends, peers, and spectators.

Although Shotgun can make directional, park only, back country, race etc. boards. We decided to just make high performance, quick responding, twin tip boards consistent with riding switch or standard. Our boards have aggressive radial sidecuts for quick responsive turning and ultimate high speed control. Our full wood-cores have amazing pop and flexibility for all snow conditions.

At Shotgun Snowboards we only use the best materials to make our boards. We take pride in handcrafting your board and we only want to put the best materials in your board… because we rider our boards too.

Here are the highlights:

• Base Material – We use Durasurf UHMW-PE sintered base material best known for it’s durability, speed, wax absorption/retention, impact resistance and consistency in extreme temperatures. Basically, it just doesn’t get any better then this!
• Fiberglass – We use a lightweight tri-axel fiberglass to maximize torsional strength and responsive flex memory in all our boards.
• Steel Edges – Full wrap hardened and tempered steel edge. They are break-proof and wear-resistant and are thus specifically suitable for exposure to high loads and flex stresses. They are also known for their excellent sliding behaviour.
• Wood Cores – We use a U.S. made vertically laminated 100% tip to tail wood core. Our full wood cores make our decks light, strong and long lasting memory. In addition, full wood core boards have excellent bonding properties that assure us of the strongest bond possible.

Shotgun is dedicated to the snowboarding world. One Shotgun founder has been building and riding snowboards since 1987. Every snowboard is completely hand crafted right here in the U.S. using only the best materials. If you are one of the lucky ones who own one of our boards, then you obviously know something about snowboarding. But, for the 4 skeptics out there, we do offer an unconditional tip to tail 2 year warranty against any defects in manufacturing. However, don’t run it over with your truck or saw it in half to try to get a new board at the end of the season, we know that trick!!

The first and most important thing you need to know about Shotgun Snowboards is that every board is HAND MADE right here in the USA. Each board is made to order and we only use the top quality materials for your board.

4 x 4 standard insert pattern

All our snowboards are manufactured using a vacuum sandwich construction. Although vacuum manufacturing is a slower process then machine pressed mass produced snowboards, vacuum manufacturing allows the best possible bonding process available.

Full wood core all the way to the side wall. Where other boards have a 4 (or more) piece sidewall/tip tail system, Shotgun has a continuous seamless full wood-core sidewall, giving our boards a unique look, performance and strength. Our continuous sidewall minimizes delamination and potential stress break points and maximizes overall ride performance. Don’t believe us? Ride one!! They’re fast as hell and carve like a hot knife through butter.

Say “aloha” to Daniel Pronk. Daniel is the Nevada, Reno – Tahoe area rep for Shotgun Boardwear. Daniel is a snowboard junkie and calls Heavenly Ski Resort his home mountain.Daniel is a proud father of two boys and was born and raised in Carson City, Nevada. Daniel
lived in So Cal for a year in Bellflower, where he spent the majority of his
time in Huntington Beach, Newport, and Hollywood. He also lived in Reno on
and off for about 5 years while attending The University of Nevada dual majoring in psychology and
sociology.

Daniel has over 18 years of snowboarding under his belt and he spends
nearly all of his free time in the winter shredding Heavenly and Squaw. His
summers are spent riding dirt bikes, golfing, fishing and chillaxing in
Tahoe.

His favorite music is west coast punk such as Pennywise, Social D, Bad
Religion, Rancid, Transplants and Suicidal Tendencies.
